                                                        ORDINANCE NO.   O-470 

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 3 - UTILITIES, CHAPTER 3.20 - SERVICES, SECTION 3.20.190 - CUSTOMERS PLUMBING, CONTROL VALVES, OF THE YAMHILL MUNICIPAL CODE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City of Yamhill has recognized the need for standardization in and conformity to match state plumbing codes and the state cross connection regulations; NOW THEREFORE;

THE CITY OF YAMHILL ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1.  Yamhill Municipal Code Chapter 3.20.190, Utilities Regulations, is hereby amended to read as follows:

3.20.190  Customers Plumbing - Control Valves.  Customers shall install a suitable gate valve in the customer service line as close to the meter as possible, the operation of which will control the entire water supply to the premises served.  The customer shall install such additional pressure reducing valves, pressure relief valves, check valves, pop‑off valves, or other control valves as the customer may desire or the Water Department may deem necessary to protect the customer's piping from abnormal high or low pressures or from potential backflow or back siphonage into the City System.  Repair and replacement of said control valves shall be the responsibility of the customer.

It shall be a violation of these Rules and Regulations for the customer to operate or cause unauthorized operation of the meter stop or any other appurtenances on the service connection.  (Ord. 348, '7.12.2, 1984; Ord. O-427, '1(part), 1997)

SECTION 2.  This Ordinance hereby amends Yamhill Municipal Code Chapter 3.20.190, Utilities, Customer Plumbing-Control Valves.  All remaining portions of Yamhill Municipal Code, Title 3, Utilities, are hereby reaffirmed in their entirety.

SECTION 3.  This Ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public

 peace, health and safety of the City of Yamhill, Oregon, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage.
